12/27/2022 0 Comments A shot of love with tila tequilla![]() Now we know what the big problems are with stereotyping. So, now you're probably thinking, "so what?!?! nobody cared about this you fool! whatch the show and enjoy!!" Well, let me first explain whats wrong with stereotyping.ġ) YOU SHOULDN'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! )ģ) Consequently, stereptypes are usually wrong. This is the modern stereotypical interpretation of an african american person in America that most people connect with. Basically Ken dolls.Īnd last but not least, our african american friends! All except for one of the black people on the show were portrayed as loud, obnoxious, and what some would call ghettofied. The show portrayed all of the men as muscular, lean, fit, nicely dressed, and what "most people" in society would define as good looking. The next stereotype I noticed invloved young heterosexual men. Even though they are lesbians, they could be barbies! This is a common assumption made about young women in todays society and in American culture. They were 95% skinny, barely dressed and promiscuous. The show portrays most of the young women on the show as a current pop culuture stereotype. The first stereotype I noticed was of young women. I will discuss the sexuality steerotypes later. All of the stereoypes I noticed are young women, young straight men, black women, and black men. All of the stereotypes, as I mentioned before involve another topic that I noticed reoccuring throughout the show: gender roles. ![]() First I noticed a lot of different stereotypes. I have noticed a lot of different things while watching the Tila Tequila show. She was just giving in to the sterotype of bisexual women which is that they are confused and promiscuous.Īs you can see, a lot of Tila's show is based off of sterotyping for our entertainment. This was true for me, UNTIL she started slutting around, and making a mockery of love and sexuality. This may all sound like an emotional soap opera, or after hearing Tila discuss and tear up about this you may want to feel sorry for her. She is portrayed as a bisexual that is coming out as bisexual for the first time, struggling with her sexuality, trying to gain acceptance, and most of all trying to find a man or woman to be with. All of those adjectives describe heterosexual men, or men in general as concieved by our current pop culture and even culture in general. They were all power hungry, sex and power driven, masculine, and competitive. ![]() Some are fat, old, or maybe even "ugly." Another sad stereotype in the Tila Tequila show is that most of the men act like animals. ![]() This is a very prominent misconception and stereotype for homosexual people.Īs I mentioned before, the straight men were basically lean, young, muscular, well dressed Ken Dolls. Unfortunately, all of the lesbians were portrayed as promiscuous, non monogamous, slutty people. The butch lesbians were very manly, wearing men's clothes and acting for the most part as stereotypical butches aka men. They were stereotypically skinny, make up covered, and Barbieish. Most of the women were portrayed as lipstick lesbians. ![]() Lipstick meaning, more feminine, and butch meaning more masculine. All of the lesbians on the show are portrayed as what some would call, "lipstick" or "butch". The stereotypes that I noticed include stereotypical ideas about lesbians, straight men, and bisexual women.Īs you know, Tila Tequila's show is basically the Bachelorette with a bisexual women and lesbians and heterosexual men fighting for the bisexual women's afections.Īll of the lesbians on the show are portrayed as common stereotypical, ideas about what lesbians look like, sound like, dress like, and act like. As I previously mentioned in an earlier blog, I am going to discuss sexuality stereotypes I have noticed in the Tila Tequila show. ![]()
